Dear friend,
Do you know that its your sin that separates you from God? You were born with a sinful nature (Ps 58:3) and sin must be punished by God (2 Thes 1:8-9). So you ask what is sin? Sin literally means "missing the mark." None of us are perfect and because of our sin when we die we will be judged (Heb 9:27) and those that do not know Christ will spend eternity in God's prison house called Hell (Rev 20:15). You may be thinking that you already know this stuff about sin and God and Jesus and all and you have no need to repent. Well then let me ask you a few questions based on the commandments of God (Ex 20).
The Good Person
Test (Adapted
from Living Waters The Way of the Master)
Have you ever lied before?
Have you ever stolen something that was not yours?
Have you ever blaphemed God's name?
Have you ever looked after someone and sexually lusted?
Have you ever cheated?
Have you ever had a bad thought?
Have you ever disobeyed your parents?
Have you ever coveted something that was not yours?
If the answer to any of the questions above is a yes then you
are guilty of breaking God's perfect law (Jam 2:10). But the
good news is that Christ came to die for you (Jn 3:16-17, 1 Jn
2:2) and you can have eternal life. If you want to learn how to
get saved continue reading..
1. Realize there is no one that is good
Romans 3:10
As it is written:"There is no one righteous, not even one;
The bible states that no one on earth is
righteous or perfect. We all have faults, we all are in sin, and
all need to repent. As you realized that you are a sinner and
worthy of judgment because you cannot keep the 10 commandments
perfectly.
2. See yourself as a sinner
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
No one is good enough to go to Heaven on their own merit or will. No matter how much good we do, we all fall short of Gods glory.
3. Notice God's price on sin
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ezekiel 18:4 (ESV)
Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as
the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.
There is punishment for wrong. The penalty for
all our sins is eternal death and separation from God in a place
that the bible calls Hell.
4. Believe that Christ died for you and that He arose again from the dead
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
God's great love for us was shown when he sent his Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay our sin debt as it says in the following verse.
2 Corinthians
5:21 (NIV)
God made him who had no sin to
be sin for us, so that in him we might become the
righteousness of God.
5. Take God at his Word
Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 10:9-11
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you
will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe
and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess
and are saved. [11] As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in
him will never be put to shame."
I'd like to help you receive salvation by giving you a prayer to say. God will hear you if you pray sincerely. Also remember that you are saved by grace and not by works of righteousness (Eph 2:8-9).
